Celina made a breakthrough to limelight when she joined her Brother Joseph Kamaru in May 1965 as a backup vocalist when she was still a young girl and debuted with ‘Uthoni Wa Bathi-ini and Ndutige Kuhenia Igoti’; together they formed the Joseph Kamaru and Sister Band and later rebranded to Kamaru Celina Band in 1972.
Celina moved along with Kamaru’s musical journey pioneering as among the first female recording artist in Kenya; though Celina made an early exit in her musical career to settle down and focus on her marriage which saw the end of Kamaru Celina band which had already made a name for themselves with several hits amongst them being ,Uthoni Wa Mbathi-ini, Tiga Kuhenia Igoti, Mboco Iri Mboca,Thina Wa Kamaru, Kibata, Rwimbo Rwa Twana among others.
Celina passed on to be with her Maker on 8th November 2019 almost an year after her brother’s Joseph Kamaru demise.
Her role at Kamaru’s band was initially replaced by Wamucii Benson and later Elizabeth Nyambere who were debuting in their music careers respectively
